Vampires, Witches and Daemons oh my - A Discovery of Witches (2018) - Review Series

Diana Bishop, a historian and reluctant witch, unexpectedly discovers a bewitched manuscript in Oxford's Bodleian Library. This discovery forces her back into the world of magic in order to unravel the secrets it holds about magical beings. She is offered help by a mysterious geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont. Despite a long-held mistrust between witches and vampires, they form an alliance and set out to protect the book and solve the mysteries hidden within while dodging threats from the creature world.

Witches. Magic, vampires and Daemons. This one is a curious one to me. It has flashes of greatness when it deals with the politics between the groups and the supernatural powers they use on each other. The disappointment in this one, is how much time is spent on the romance of the story. Where the love of the main characters is overblown and constantly paraded in front of the audience in almost every episode. This becomes more of an irritant then something that is enjoyed. Its an interesting one, if you are into the supernatural. If you liked Twilight and Harry Potter, it may be something you enjoy. I am still on the fence, but as Season two unfolds, more supernatural and less romance is what would win me over. Lets see what we get.
