A prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, the show will follow the crew of the USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike.
Star Trek goes back to its roots in this prequel to the 1960's original series. Where I geek out on all things Sci-Fi, and don’t get me wrong I think this series premiere kicks off with a bang, I was a little disappointed on how much of a fan you need to be in order to follow the story. New fans watchers would have a hard time understanding the fan tributes and larger context this show plays in the universe of Star Trek. Without having that knowledge I think new watchers will struggle to keep up with the storytelling. Sometimes taking the first few episodes to being in the new watchers is needed to get them to commit to the series. While I think this will be a welcome addition to the Star Trek universe I feel like it will go the way of so many of the other shows and get cancelled due to lack luster ratings and viewership. If you are a Star Trek fan, add this one to your list to watch. All hands on deck and we might keep this one alive for a few seasons.
