The crew of a spaceship headed to Mars discovers an accidental stowaway shortly after takeoff. Too far from Earth to turn back and with resources quickly dwindling, the ship's medical researcher emerges as the only dissenting voice against the group consensus that has already decided in favor of a grim outcome.
This was an incredibly tough movie for me to review. As some of you know I am a huge SCI-FI fan, so I was really eager to see this movie. It was beautifully made and the mood and feel of the movie are engaging. The choices for casting were a little weird, but I can sometimes get by that in the understanding that sometimes Hollywood names can draw attention to a film. This movie had lots of times where you had to think, what would I do in this scenario? Trust me those times were never good options either. I think my biggest issue with this movie was the ending. Now without causing any spoilers, this movie ends just when you think there is going to be something more. This is one of the biggest issues a movie can have for me. If I feel like the story is not done, it leaves me with a feeling that I wasted my time. Like reading 3/4 of a book but not the ending. While I think the movie is still worth watching, I believe Netflix missed an opportunity here. You had the audience right where you want them, and left them feeling disappointed.
