Skyfire (2022) - Review

Writer: Dan BrooksDan Brooks

Tianhuo Island is as beautiful as a paradise. It almost makes people forget that it is located in the "Ring of Fire" the world-famous Pacific Rim volcanic belt. The volcano erupted, and the fate of the people in the island was entangled.

Delayed due to Covid, this Simon West destruction movie is riddled with story problems language issues and bad acting, but also filled with catastrophic destruction scenes and doomsday scenarios. This will not be a blockbuster movie, but it is fun to watch the destruction in this movie. Volcanoes create chaos when they erupt and with the Asian storytelling we get crazier situations that are not the typical Hollywood outcome. Most of the time our heroes have a solution but it doesn't work or they miss the mark, and have to adapt. I also like how in Asian storytelling there is more heartbreak and human emotion around loss. This one is no exception. Kudos for creating a fun destruction movie to watch, but the English translation was hard to get through at times and took away from the enjoyment just a little. If you like watching destruction check it out.
