Morgan playing catch up - Paradise Highway (2022) - Review

A truck driver has been forced to smuggle illicit cargo to save her brother from a deadly prison gang. With FBI operatives hot on her trail, Sally's conscience is challenged when the final package turns out to be a teenage girl.

Morgan Freeman and Juliette Binoche are the heavy hitters in this crime drama that is not quite up to the level we would expect from Morgan given past gems like Seven and Kiss the Girls. An aging detective that seems to always place himself in the right situations with limited clues or daunting odds to overcome, finds a woman doing bad things in a position to save a small child from the slave trade. Mediocore performances with little payout after the big surprise make this one not high on my alert radar to inform people about. It hits all the correct formulas but just is not that great of a mystery movie. Morgan needs to get back to his work like Seven. It had you on your toes till the end? I will still tune into everything Freeman touches, but I am feeling his age is limiting his roles now. Worth a rainy Sunday afternoon watch.
