An ambitious carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychologist who is even more dangerous than he is.

This movie has a great cast a great look and follows the systematic crash of an overzealous carny that falls victim to his own exploits. Set in the forties, Guillermo del Toro captures the rawness of the era with a great casting of Bradley Cooper Cate Blanchett, and Toni Colette. Has an amazing supporting cast too with Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, Richard Jenkins, and Willem Dafoe. This story is a little haunting, and shows the desperation of the time and what people will do to get ahead. Even when they have a good thing going the lust for power and fame can cloud your mind to do terrible things and feel justified doing it. Bradley Cooper does a great job showing the rise and fall of this carny obsessed with fame and money. Well worth a watch.
