Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon "Wanna" Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City's super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin. —MGM
Sly Stallone can't help playing the hero. In this quasi-superhero movie, Sly plays someone trying to escape the public eye after going out in a blaze of glory. I like the simplicity of this movie with an underlying twist that is not hard to see but still satisfying when it all plays out. Every kid wants to be a hero, and I think Sly is still living out those dreams by making these movies. I am still holding out for Demolition Man 2, and I know Wesley Snipes is too. This one is entertaining. Amazon has some good stuff coming out lately. The subscription might be worth picking up to check it out.
