Hail to the King...Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) - Review

Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash on the big screen in a spectacular battle for the ages. As a squadron embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans' very origins and mankind's survival, a conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Well the battle of the ages is finally here. This was a tale of two movies for me. If you boil this down to just the fighting scenes, I would highly recommend this film. The fight sequences were awesome, and its always fun to watch cities crumble when the titans go at it. That leads to the storytelling aspect of the movie which I think was just terrible. There were so many plot points and moving story lines it was hard to keep up, and I re-watched all the Godzilla and Kong movies before seeing this one. The plot points seemed rushed and forced, and it seemed very disjointed at times, and expected the audience to just buy into it to get to the fighting. There was also a long list of ridiculous situations that you just had to accept, like a blogger and two children sneaking into a top security underground bunker discovering a high speed tunnel across the world and just happening to stumble into a secret lab with no security. Flimsy at best. For that it will pull down my raking, but if you like destruction, you should watch anyway, and just roll your eyes at the horrible storytelling to get to the showdown. Hail to the King baby.
