Futuristic Mystery - Reminiscence (2021) - Review

Nick Bannister, a private investigator of the mind, navigates the alluring world of the past when his life is changed by new client Mae. A simple case becomes an obsession after she disappears and he fights to learn the truth about her.

What would it look like if you smashed together TV's Westworld the old gumshoe detective movies with a splash of dystopian future? Bam you have Reminiscence. Hugh Jackman plays a character I feel is close to his normal personality in this futuristic mystery movie. There were not many surprises in this movie that you cant see coming. The story seems forced at times where the visual cues are so flagrant that it's hard to miss them. It was easy to see the connections of actors pulled from movies and shows they shared in the past so I am sure the set was filled with reunions and friends reuniting. It was a good Sunday afternoon movie that will keep you occupied but will not be shouting from the rooftops for people to check out.
