Full moon tonight? Moonfall (2022) - Review

A mysterious force knocks the moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it.

Another wonderful disaster movie by Roland Emmerich. I say this with all the sarcasm and humor I can because when it comes to the destroying of the planet Roland Emmerich is king, but when it comes to the dialog and the story that is not such a high compliment. This movie could not decide if it was a thriller or a comedy. The goofiness of the sidekicks and the ridiculousness of some of the storylines just made you shake your head and move on to the destruction. I have always loved disaster movies for the sheer chaos and destruction that you get to watch2-hour but come on Roland we do need to have a coherant story to go along with it otherwise just focus on giving us a 2 hour destruction montage and move on. There are some cool effects in this one, but the believability of a family jumping an SUV over an earthquake fissure landing on a piece of the floating road being pulled into space by the moon's gravity is a little much for even the most hardened Fast and Furious fan. Watch for the humor and destruction and leave your expectations at the door.
