An epic drama set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.
Lord of the Rings fans are mixed about this new show. The visuals and special effects are extraordinary and you will get pulled right back into middle earth, and the battle between good and evil. For me, the casting has not looked too good after the first 2 episodes. With big shoes to fill the new cast is doing what it can to rise up to their movie counterparts in younger versions, but the fans are mixed on whether that is working or not. With so many hardcore superfans, Amazon Prime is called out almost instantly when they deviate from the source material. It's a love-hate relationship, as the fans beg for what they want to see and the creative minds at Amazon Prime want to make it their own. As a fantasy genre admirer, I just love the fact the studios are spending so much money to make this series. I will enjoy it no matter what the fanatics say. Well worth a watch if you like fantasy.
